Mazel Day School is celebrating 20 years since we opened our doors with our first preschool class of 3 children. Today, we have 3 divisions, 24 classes, and 377 students! If that was not enough, we are also celebrating receiving the 2022 National Blue Ribbon award. What an accomplishment for our community!

About Mazel
Mazel Day School is a remarkable story! It started as a vision undertaken by very inspired and driven people who believed that the key to building Jewish identity in the homes of Russian Jews living in America today is through their children's education. MDS’s vision was to create a Jewish day school that caters to the unique character of the Brooklyn Russian Jewish community: an educational institution that provides a rich and engaging curriculum in both general and Judaic studies and serves as a source of inspiration and guidance for parents and students as they explore their Jewish identity.
When Mazel Day School opened its doors to its pioneer classes, only a few dozen families enrolled their students.
Fast forward to today: MDS is a thriving co-educational day school for students in Pre-Nursery through Grade 8. MDS has grown to a school with 24 classes, nearly 380 students, and a teaching staff of 52. Every year, Mazel’s student body continues to grow exponentially, servicing not only children from Russian-speaking families but also American and Israeli families.
The establishment of MDS represents a key milestone on the Russian Jew’s journey toward the revival of their Jewish identity. It is the key that is helping unlock the full potential of this community. MDS serves as a model for Jewish education and is a key catalyst driving change in Brooklyn’s Russian Jewish Community.
